Clearwater International advises HAL on the acquisition of De Nationale Borg from ING

Clearwater International has advised HAL Investments, the Dutch investment subsidiary of HAL Holding N.V. and international investment company, on the acquisition of De Nationale Borg, provider of non-life insurance products in the Benelux market and international reassurance and credit, from ING. As a result of this transaction, Nationale Borg has also been acquired by Egeria.

De Nationale Borg specialises in guarantee insurance, including customs bonds. In business for over 110 years, the company has been a subsidiary of the ING Group since 1990.

HAL Investments is an internationally listed investment company on Euronext Amsterdam. Portfolio companies include Pearle, Trespa, Vopak, Univar, Boskalis, and PontMeyer.

Egeria is a fully independent Dutch private equity firm, focusing on acquiring controlling stakes in mid-market companies with strong and stable cash flows and enterprise values typically ranging between €50 and €200m.
